Custom Aluminum Fabrication for Commercial and Industrial Projects

BSG is an aluminum fabrication shop with laser cutting, welding, CNC machining and assembly in one 44,000 sq ft plant. Aluminum is one of the three metals we work with most, alongside carbon steel and stainless, and we've been building parts and equipment for customers across Southwestern Ontario since 1987.

Why Engineers Specify Aluminum

Aluminum weighs roughly a third as much as steel and resists corrosion without a coating, which makes it a common pick for equipment that gets moved, handled or exposed to the weather. It also machines quickly, though it conducts heat fast and calls for different welding setups than steel.

Aluminum Fabrication Machines on Our Floor

Every aluminum job is cut, shaped, joined and machined on equipment we own and run in Kitchener. Here's what your parts move through.

Equipment Process Aluminum Capability
9kW Amada ENSIS 3015 RIe fiber laser Laser cutting Aluminum sheet, tube and pipe
Plasma cutting Plasma cutting Aluminum from thin sheet to heavy plate
Shears and bandsaws Stock prep Straight cuts and cut-to-length work
Brake press with quick-change tooling Forming Bends for prototype and production parts
MIG, TIG and robotic welders Welding Manual and high-volume welded assemblies
CD and arc stud welders Stud welding Studs and fasteners welded onto aluminum
5-axis CNC mills, manual mills and lathes Machining Machined aluminum parts to ±0.010mm
CMM Inspection Dimensional checks on critical features

Cutting Aluminum

Aluminum sheet, tube and pipe are cut on our 9kW Amada ENSIS 3015 RIe. As a hybrid fiber laser, it lets flat blanks and tubular parts share one machine, and it cuts as much as 4x faster than CO2 equipment.

Plasma cutting takes aluminum from thin sheet through heavy plate, and our shears and bandsaws handle straight cuts and cut-to-length stock before parts move on to forming or welding.

Welding Aluminum

Aluminum is one of the three metals our welders work with most, along with carbon steel and stainless. The shop runs MIG and TIG welding plus a new robotic welding system for high-volume production, and every weld is completed to the specifications on your drawing.

Stud Welding on Aluminum

Capacitor discharge (CD) and arc stud welding attach studs and fasteners directly to aluminum, giving a part its mounting points in seconds. The same equipment works on carbon steel and stainless steel.

Machining Aluminum

Aluminum is on the materials list for our Machining Division. Parts are milled on 5-axis CNC and manual machines and turned on manual equipment, with tolerances down to ±0.010mm and CMM inspection for the features that matter most.

The division takes on everything from prototypes to production orders, including overnight production runs when a schedule is tight.

Aluminum Manufacturing, from Prototype to Production

Beyond single parts, we carry aluminum projects end to end: design support in AutoDesk and SolidWorks, prototype development, then custom manufacturing at production volume.

Checked, Assembled, and Delivered

A formal quality assurance policy, a retained welding engineer, staff qualified in non-destructive testing and CMM inspection back our aluminum work.

Mechanical assembly is done in-house, so components can ship as finished assemblies instead of loose parts. When the job is complete, we can pick it up from our plant and deliver it to your site anywhere in Southwestern Ontario.
