Ball Service Group Inc Secures $4.2M in Provincial Funding to Deliver High-Precision Manufacturing in Kitchener
Ball Service Group Inc. (BSG) is set to expand its operations thanks to a major investment and support from the Ontario government. The Kitchener-based manufacturing company will be investing over $4.2M in a brand new division focussed on high-tolerance, small-part machining.
The Ontario government is contributing $421,768 through the Regional Development Program’s Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) stream, supporting the creation of eight new jobs and the retention of 25 positions at the company’s 44,000-square-foot facility.
“Our government is building a stronger Ontario and creating the conditions for a strong economy by supporting key investments in our community,” said Mike Harris, MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga and Minister of Red Tape Reduction.
The investment will also help Ball Service Group Inc. (BSG) enhance their manufacturing capabilities and increase their production capacity.
In 2022, Ball Service Group Inc. (BSG) was acquired by EXEL Research, a move which has allowed them to rapidly expand and innovate their operations. The company recently added 5-axis machining, carbon fibre 3D printing, precision Siegmund welding tables, and a 9-kW AMADA ENSIS 3015 RIe hybrid fibre laser to its production floor.
Industrial technologies like these are instrumental in BSG’s ability to deliver ultra-precise custom metal parts to companies across Ontario. With the province’s recent investment, the company is looking for more ways to expand what capabilities they bring to Ontario businesses.
“[It’s] especially important as skilled labour becomes harder to find,” said Jeff Benham, President of BSG. “We’re all struggling to find good people to get the job done. Giving them good tools to work with increases their chances for success and helps them improve.”
Ball Service Group Inc. was founded in 1987 and relocated to Kitchener in 2000. The company is best known for building high-quality custom-fabricated components for companies across Canada, mainly in the industrial and automotive industries.
